CENTRIFUGAL CASTINGS
Centrifugal Casting is a process used for casting either short runs of tubing or tubes in exotic materials that you just can’t buy tubing in or is very difficult to bore a hole through a bar.
The molten material is gravity fed into a spinning mold, the spinning mold then uses inertia to throw the most dense material to the perimeter of the mold, this assures that there will be no issue with porosity or defects in the cast tubes. As the molten material freezes, the die or mold is filled from the outside inward. Once the ID of the tube is smaller than the desired size the tube is cooled then cleaned up. The outside perimeter of the tube will have mold release material on it which will need trimming and the ID of the tube may have undesired inclusions that will need to be cleaned off.
The result of the casting process is very clean and dense pieces of tubing ready to be cut and finish machined. If desired Techni-cast can do that for you as well.
